Triumph/Trying to lose The Game

When I think of the word triumph, I see a marathon runner racing triumphantly over the finish line. This is in contrast to the word "try", which leaves me with a picture of someone standing hunched over, ten feet before the finish line. It's kinda depressing.

I am saddened by the story of the man who killed a friend by accident. Nothing saddens me more than an accidental death, even outside of the family. I wish that the world didn't have to worry about trouble like that.
